A consistent user experience for a multi-national outsourced services provider
The Company
A large multi-national outsourced services provider.
The Challenge
The company was already a large scale user of Citrix XenApp along with thin client devices, although the versions in use where old. Users globally were accessing a centralised XenApp farm hosted in a data centre in the UK. User experience was described internally as variable with users going to unusual lengths to ensure they logged on to ‘good’ servers.
The Solution
EACS designed and implemented a Windows Server 2008R2 / XenApp 6 solution along with centralised image management (Citrix Provisioning Services), profile management (AppSense Environment Manager) and packaged / streamed application delivery mechanism using Microsoft App-V to ensure that all users received a consistent user experience.
During the engagement EACS also worked to deliver a driver independent printing solution that operated over limited bandwidth links to resolve a long standing printing issue.
The Benefits
By providing a single centralised and shared XenApp 6 image via Citrix Provisioning Services EACS ensured that all XenApp servers were identical. This in combination with user personalisation and application delivery ensured that the user experience was much improved and consistent on all servers.
